|

I was running a revdep-rebuild and it determined that libmpeg2 needed to be re-emerged. Of course it tried to emerge and I run into the following error:
| Code: |
/usr/lib/gcc/i586-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.5/../../../../i586-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: cannot find -lvga
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[1]: *** [mpeg2dec] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/libmpeg2-0.4.0b/work/mpeg2dec-0.4.0/src'
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
!!! ERROR: media-libs/libmpeg2-0.4.0b failed.
Call stack:
ebuild.sh, line 1573: Called dyn_compile
ebuild.sh, line 982: Called src_compile
!!! emake failed
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant.

I tried unmerging libmpeg2 and then re-emerging that by itself, and it still gives me the same error (always the exact same error every time). I'm currenlty running an emerge --sync and will try to re-emerge libmpeg2 afterwards, but I wanted to see if anyone knows anything about what may be going on here.
It mentioned the call stack, but I have no clue where I could get that information.
I searched through forums, but it appears that no one else has had this problem that I could find.
Below is my emerge --info, if anything else is needed for helping crush this problem, just ask and I'll get it.

Looks like a dependency error. Try emerging svgalib (should provide libvga if i'm not mistaken) and see if that fixes it.
If it does, please file a bug at bugs.gentoo.org stating that libmpeg2 is missing that dependency. |

Emerging svgalib fixed the problem, thanks for pointing it out for me.
I'll head over to bugzilla and file a bug about a missing dependency now (as well as put [solved] on the original post). |
