vamos lá... espero q me ajudem...

qd eu logo como root me aparece essa msg:

configuration error - unknown item 'FAILLOG_ENAB' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'LASTLOG_ENAB' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'MOTD_FILE' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'FTMP_FILE' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'ENV_ROOTPATH' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'PASS_MIN_LEN' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'CHFN_AUTH' (notify administrator)

como resolver isso???

qd inicio o X tudo normal, o driver da nvidia rodando certinho... o problema é qd sai do X, não aparece nada no console a não ser uns quadradinho coloridos, isso tem como resolver???

como fazer com q o dhcpcd não grave no resolv.conf?? sempre q eu inicio o pc eu tenho q editar colocando o dns, keria q isso fosse definitivo, pois sempre q inicia ele coloca 10.1.1.1 q é o endereço do modem... como resolvo isto??

eu não consigo iniciar aplicações usando o sudo, geralmente no slackware eu usava sudo kwrite para editar arquivos e qd dou este comando no terminal ele retorna:
kwrite: cannot conect to X server
como resolver??

como eu instalo o flashplayer???

como instalo o superkaramba??

e como habilito login de root no kdm???

acho q por enquanto é isso...

Pra começar, muita calma nessa hora.

Sempre que vc atualizar seu sistema com emerge -uD world (sempre uso este depois do emerge sync), vc deve atualizar também os arquivos de configuração. Eles não são atualizados automaticamente por estarem na pasta protegida (/etc). Esta atualização vc deve fazer manualmente. Para isso, use o comando etc-update, ou melhor ainda, o dispatch-conf. Recomendo usar o segundo pois, para cada arquivo de configuração, ele mostra como era e como vai ficar, e te dá algumas opções. Eu sempre uso u quando quero usar o novo arquivo de configuração, e n quando quero manter o atual. Exemplo de um arquivo que sempre mantenho o antigo, é o hostname. Se você usar o etc-update ele vai simplesmente atualizar todos os arquivos. O lado negativo disto, é que vc terá que editar todos os arquivos que vc alterou manualmente, e voltar as configurações antigas. No meu por exemplo, eu sempre nego para clock, hostname, domainname, consolefont, keymaps, rc.conf.

Depois que vc atualizar os arquivos de configuração, o seguinte "erro" vai permanecer quando vc logar como root:

Para resolver isso, basta editar o arquivo /etc/login.defs e comentar a linha PASS_MIN_LEN=3. Deve ser a última linha deste arquivo. Só assim eu consegui resolver este probleminha estético.

Eu tive este problema quando tinha uma placa ATI. Com nvidia, nunca. Poste seu xorg.conf.

Se seu servidor DHCP está dando este endereço para o gentoo, e este DNS não funciona, vc deveria checar as configurações do seu DHCP/DNS para uma solução mais elegante. Este ip é normalmente usado pelo modem Dlink 500G, que deveria encaminhar automaticamente as requisições DNS para o Ip de Internet correto. Uma outra solução, suja, seria retirar as permissões de gravação do arquivo resolv.conf depois que vc editá-lo com as configs corretas. Eu acho melhor vc tentar entender primeiro, e configurar corretamente, seu servidor DHCP.

Eu nunca usei sudo, sempre que preciso de permissões root eu simplesmeste uso su.

O restante das suas dúvidas mostra que vc não tem procurado se informar na documentação disponível. O gentoo possue um grande número de documentos de qualidade e de fácil entendimento.
Suas dúvidas já foram respondidas anteriormente, e existem HOWTOs explicando passo-a-passo, em praticamente qualquer dúvida que vc tenha.

sobre o problema do DNS eu não sei pq ta dando isso, pois da uma hora pra outra até no windows eu tinhe q adicionar o dns senão não navegava, achei estranho mas sem problemas, e como faço para retirar a permissão de escrita para o resolv.conf para q o dhcpcd não escreva nele...

Olá, é sempre melhor ir fazendo threads separados por problema ou é uma confusão...

De qualquer forma, em relação ao sudo:

sabe como encontrei? Siga os passos:

1) clique em "Pesquisar" (barra superior do fórum). Se estiver em ingles, clique em "Search"
2) escreva algo em "Pesquisar por palavras-chave:", tipo "login root kde"
3) escolha o fórum em "Fórum:". (prefira o Português, mas se não escolher o fórum terá mais resultados)
4) aperte o boão "Pesquisar"
