Hello,
I've got a ASUS KR7A Raid with a HTP370 on board.
I've plugged my DVD on the HTP370 controller.
On boot, dma is off on the DVD (hdparm -d /dev/hde) so dvd playback is jumpy
When i try to put dma on (htparm -d 1 /dev/hde), it works, it tells me that it is on (hdparm -d /dev/hde) but on the first operation i do on the drive, computer hangs for a few seconds and then begin the given operation... slowly
Right after, when i check dma status (hdparm -d /dev/hde) it's turned off again...
It's driving me crazy so i plugged back my dvd on the "normal" ide controler to watch movies... but i'd really like to put it on the hpt370 (for in-tower space & disk setup reasons).
Does anybody here have a such motherboard or controller and experiencing the same problem ? or have it working great ? |

I've got an ABIT KT7-RAID, with a HPT370 onboard. According to the docs I've seen, Highpoint don't support putting anything other than hard drives onto their controllers. I think they're focusing on high performance for hard drive RAID, and ensuring compatibility with a million and one DVD, CD-RW, etc. etc. drives was too much for them. I think one of the bios updates explicitly removes some support for this sort of stuff. I'm afraid you're on your own with this one...
