|
|
Hi all.
I'd like to test the Modular X but I have a smll problem due to my ignorance.
From the "Modular X HOWTO":
Quote: | First, add the required packages to /etc/portage/package.unmask. Open /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask in a text editor of your choice, then copy and paste the full modular X mask over to package.unmask. |
But I don't know the full list of the required packages!
I've browsed the whole package.mask but there is no hint about this.
Any help?
Thanks in advance! _________________ Maybe Computers will never be as intelligent as Humans.

You must be blind or something.
Try /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask (so, not /etc/portage/package.mask) |

I fear you are right!
I saw a lot of rows starting with x11-something but I have no clue whether they all are the required packages.
From your hint I'd argue "all of them". Right? _________________ Maybe Computers will never be as intelligent as Humans.

Right.
Your own quote from the xorg howto is pretty clear about it:
Quote: | Open /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask in a text editor of your choice, then copy and paste the full modular X mask over to package.unmask. |

The destiny of a n00b is to actually be behind a n00b! :-)

Please edit the topic title by adding a [solved], this is a nice way for other newbies (that actually use the search option) to see that this issue was solved.
Cheers |

One more hint.
Before going on with Modular X you need:
1. to unmask >=dev-python/pycrypto-2.0.1-r4 as ~x86 in packages.keywords
2. to emerge -u portage

Adding ~x86 is not needed, everything in package.keywords is considered ~x86 by definition. |
