I cant get my soundcard working on my laptop.
lspci:
Code: | 00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 03) |
As you can see it's an ordinary ICH AC97 sound chip. It is compiled as module in the kernel, and I have run make modules_install.
I then run alsaconf, it finds the card, loads the drivers and everything is ok. lsmod show this:
Code: |
snd_intel8x0 25372 0
snd_ac97_codec 79072 1 snd_intel8x0
snd_ac97_bus 1856 1 snd_ac97_codec

When I play a video or a music file, like a mp3 file, I hear nothing. I used mplayer in search for an error message and got this:

I know alsa mute soundchannels by default, but that doesn't seem to be the problem here. I emerged aumix and I had to chmod 777 /dev/mixer in order to get aumix started (??) .
Here's emerge --info:
