Every freaking time, and I've tried re-syncing twice. How can I get around this?
| Code: |
a linux # emerge udev
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) sys-fs/udev-079-r1 to /
>>> md5 files ;-) udev-077-r1.ebuild
>>> md5 files ;-) udev-077-r2.ebuild
>>> md5 files ;-) udev-077.ebuild
>>> md5 files ;-) udev-077-r3.ebuild
>>> md5 files ;-) udev-068-r1.ebuild
>>> md5 files ;-) udev-077-r4.ebuild
>>> md5 files ;-) udev-077-r5.ebuild
>>> md5 files ;-) udev-078.ebuild
>>> md5 files ;-) udev-079.ebuild
>>> md5 files ;-) udev-081.ebuild
>>> md5 files ;-) udev-079-r1.ebuild
>>> md5 files ;-) udev-081-r1.ebuild
>>> md5 files ;-) udev-084.ebuild
>>> md5 files ;-) udev-070-r1.ebuild
>>> md5 files ;-) udev-069.ebuild
>>> md5 files ;-) udev-071.ebuild
>>> md5 files ;-) udev-072.ebuild

>>> md5 files ;-) files/udev-stop.sh
>>> md5 files ;-) files/udev-parisc-path_id.patch
>>> md5 files ;-) files/digest-udev-077-r1
>>> md5 files ;-) files/udev.rules-077-r1

Any thoughts?
Thanks!

| Getting the same thing. From what I've read its usually just a mistake in the portage tree and is usually fixed by emerge sync within a couple hours. |

Drat! Not that I don't *really* appreciate all the work these dedicated Gentoo folks do but--DAMN, that's annoying. I don't have a couple of hours.
That's not their problem though. *sigh* |

the correct place to report things like this is https://bugs.gentoo.org - you are very unlikely to get developer attention otherwise.
to build your own digest you can use emerge --digest which would circumvent the problem
this is now fixed in portage (mike f. corrected it 20 mins ago) _________________ http://dev.gentoo.org/~dsd |

Whoops, sorry! I will remember that and do that in the future.

| Although this thread says the problem has been fixed in portage, it had not been fixed for me just a few minutes ago. However, "emerge sys-fs/udev --digest" as dsd suggested did do the trick. Try that. |

Is this a Bad Thing (tm) to suggest? This destroys the security of your system if you do not check what changed in the file. I personally think the idea of just digesting things when they don't wok is begging for man-in-the-middle. At LEAST check what changed in the file before you digest it! |

monkeyshark: did you sync before trying?
if so, it is probably a different issue. please sync again, then emerge udev again, the problem should reappear. please paste the message so that it can be corrected.
yes, using "--digest" does circumvent the security and potentially allows for attack. don't make it a habit. _________________ http://dev.gentoo.org/~dsd |

I have the same problem and it persists as per February 22nd 8 am Swedish time.
I am hesitant to emerge with --digest. According to dsd above the problem was correted on Feb 18th. I just synced, but the same problem occurs. Why do I still have this problem? Is there anything else I have forgotten to do, execpt syncing? _________________ /Phil |

| It's fixed now. Just delete /usr/portage/sys-fs/udev/files/udev.conf, then sync and you're good to go. |
