How to connect to your ISP when it is MSN

Hopefully this is not blasphemous around here but has anyone successfully connected to MSN through your modem? How do you go about it? I have some paid access with them that doesn't expire for several months.

I haven't done this in say 2 years but it was the same way for the past 4 before that.

Say my username for msn is "hothod92". well when it asks for the username type "msn\hotrod92". You might have to play with the slash, it might be a forward slash but I can't rember.
