Hi

I did a fresh install from stage3. Then I followed the online guide to upgrading to GCC 3.4.4.

While doing emerge -e system I got the following messages while emerging perl-core/Test-Simple-0.62

Code:

>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking Test-Simple-0.62.tar.gz to /home/gentoo/var/tmp/portage/Test-Simple-0.62/work
>>> Source unpacked.

I had a look online on the forums and in bugzilla, but with no luck.

Does anyone have any ideas?

My emerge info is

When I tried
Code:
emerge --resume --skipfirst
I then had this problem with dev-perl/Locale-gettext-1.05

Code:
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking gettext-1.05.tar.gz to /home/gentoo/var/tmp/portage/Locale-gettext-1.05/work
>>> Source unpacked.

Does this help?

Also, one of my USE flags is "minimal". Could this be causing the problems?

Code:
USE="-minimal" emerge perl

emerge the failed packages from before and/or run

Code:
perl-cleaner reallyall

Minimal is a good USE flag, but it doesn't give Perl some plug-in's it needs.

had this problem doing a new install from stage one also

Code:
emerge --nodeps libperl

seemed to get around it.
found it on the gentoo-wiki developer stage 1 howto

yeah that didn't work.

Code:
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge --oneshot --nodeps libperl perl

allowed me to get

Code:
emerge --nodeps Test-Simple

installed.

so we'll see how that goes.

Same issue with stage 1 install. This is what fixed it for me:

Code:
emerge -O gdbm libperl perl

Hope this helps..
