In my kernel under Graphics support i have the Vesa VGA Graphics support turned on and I set the VESA default mode to "1280x1024@60" (This is for the optimal setting for the LCD I use).
In my xorg.conf I have the modeline
Code: | Modeline "1280x1024" 109.62 1280 1336 1472 1720 1024 1024 1026 1062 |
Which gives me 1280x1024 @ 60 in X11.
All of this works fine, but once I'm in X if I use Ctrl+Alt+F# to go back to a console window my refresh rate jumps to 85hz and my LCD freaks out.
Anyone know why this happens or how I can fix this? |

I've got almost the same problem.
I fixed it by adding to my grub.conf the option nocrtc as in the following line :
/boot/grub/grub.conf wrote: | kernel /kernel-2.6.15-gentoo-r1 init=/sbin/bootchartd root=/dev/hda7 CONSOLE=/dev/tty1 splash=verbose,theme:mosaique video=vesafb:nocrtc,ywrap,mtrr,1280x1024-32@60 |
