Hi, I just unpluged my networkcable but when I reinstered it I cant connect to the internet, I cant even ping my ISP gateway, but I can ping all the other computers in my network...

I have a couple static IP addresses from my ISP, and all of them work on the windows computer, but none on my gentoo machine... What can be wrong? when I unplugged the cable I was on the phone with my ISP support and he restarted my internetport, after that this problem came....

Does anyone know what can be wrong? Could it be a problem with my ISP, and in that case, what?

Best regards
Daniel

a bunch of fixed ip-addresses? 8O congretulations 8O

is the "cable from your ISP" plugged directly into your gentoo-machine?

You need to give us a bit more detail about your network...

If you have a local network, I guess you have a router at home ? If you can see all computer inside your local network but not outside, it might be your router which is not correctly configured.
Also what is your output for "ifconfig". Do you have your router set up as your gateway ?

On a typical home setup, your router would be in dhcp-server mode and assign an IP to your eth0 which is in dhcp mode (/etc/conf.d/net). Your DNS (/etc/resolv.conf) is setup with your router IP. And the router is configured to do DNS too.
