|
|
Hi,
My laptop hard drive has just died. I'm trying to decontruct the thing but am finding that I need to be a magician to try to open it, despite me doing this with normal pcs for a living I haven't done this with laptops before, so I'm eager to try. I've taken off all the screws from underneath (there are none on top that I can see), I've removed the hard drive, even the huge heatsink/fan and processor but I can't for the life of me get the rest of the case off to get at the motherboard or DVD drive or anything else.
It is a fairy generic case, which I've seen a couple of other manufacturers selling, Rock being one of them.
The notebook is a Tiny Mediabook64 3200+ which you can get an image of at the url below so you'll know the one I mean:

Does anybody have an wisdom on this or can anyone point me in the right direction?
Also, while we're on the topic, I'd like to know where I can buy laptop cases so that I can rebuild this and give it a proper overhaul to make a very custom laptop. Any pointers to any other laptop components / specialist sites are also welcome... _________________ The Human Equation:

me and my friend had to take apart an fs amilo prov2010 once, just to upgrade the memory. (!!) as far as i remember, we had to remove a part on the top - between the keyboard and the lcd->that would correspond to the long, horizontal part delimited by the 2 speakers, the keyboard and the box edge towards the lcd on your picture. _________________ there are pinheads everywhere.

That's exactly what I'm stuggling with at the moment, I've taken everything else off that I can but I can't manage that bit. I figure it comes off because of the hooks I can see underneath from inside the chassis but i can't slide it in the direction the hooks indicate that it would need to go before I lift if off.
Could you tell me how you did it and if there is some special trick to it or if I should just apply more force? _________________ The Human Equation:

Can't really do that since I want to actually be able to put it back together and for it to still look nice afterwards... _________________ The Human Equation:
