Problem with Intel 82801AA AC'97 Sound Card

On my HP Pavilion 6645c, the sound card claims to be Intel 82801AA AC'97. It's giving me some odd problems.

Esd works fine. XMMS is good when using esd. But if any application tries to use oss, it produces either no sound or abnormal noise and very often crashes.

Gstreamer doesn't work at all no matter which one of osssink and esdsink is used. So I can't use gnome-media.

And about nautilus-media, I don't know if it uses gstreamer. Only when esd is running, the audo preview icon (musical note) will show up, but no sound is heard.
