|
|
HI!
My modules loaded fine (exept from a problem that was only made by my low expierence, probably this is too) until today when i tried to install ALSA. The problems came when i ran the command
The command gave me many errors saying "unresolved symbols".... I thought that I probably missed something earlier in the installation/configuration of ALSA so i tried once more thinking "Yeeha, I'm going to be able to listen to music".
It didn't work. The only difference after my failed install was that all modules gave me the error "unresolved symbol: ....."
Anyone who knows what to do?
Thanks in advance!

I think the best approach to your situation is installing alsa from scratch all over.
This guide may come in handy:
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/alsa-guide.xml
Make sure you don't have 'pushy' CFLAGS and try
Code: | emerge unmerge alsa-utils
emerge unmerge alsa-oss
emerge unmerge alsa-drivers
emerge unmerge alsa-lib
emerge alsa-drivers
emerge alsa-oss
emerge alsa-utils |
Then, verify everything is good in /etc/modules.d/alsa and /etc/devfsd.conf, do update-modules and try
Code: | /etc/init.d/alsasound start | .
Even if you have problems in non-alsa modules I'm hoping it should not interfere in Alsa.
Good luck . _________________ Hello. |

Thanks!
I havn't tried yet but i followed the gentoo alsaguide the first time i tried.
Though it sucks when i cant load other modules. As an example I can't use my network card---> I CAN'T USE INTERNET!!!
Do you know what to do to?? I want to use my network-card.....
Another thing......
I compiled the kernel with DEVFS support but when i boot the "kernel autodetection" says that i havn't.
Thanks in advance!

reinstall your modules. If you haven't changed anything in /usr/src/linux, try make modules_install That will remove /lib/modules/<your version> and fill it up again.
Look carefully if that gives any errormessages.
After that, reemerge alsa-driver and everything else which goes there like nvidia-kernel, pcmcia-cs or whatever you need. |

I've ran modules_install about 5 times but never checked for errors. I'm going to try that now. If it works, THANKS! Otherwise, THANKS!
Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
