What's the difference between these two? I'm using Compiz right now. |

Compiz is the original window manager by David Reveman that ships with Xgl. Compiz-quinnstorm is a modified version started by an Ubuntu dev named QuinnStorm. Compiz is generally more stable, but compiz-quinnstorm has more plugins and options, which produce effects and capabilities not in the upstream compiz release. You're more likely to have problems with quinnstorm but the features can often make up for it. I've been running quinnstorm (CVS version, compiz-quinnstorm-9999) for months.
If you do encounter problems with compiz-quinnstorm it's easy to go back to vanilla compiz, so it's easy enough to try out. |
