Hi there,
I've got trouble getting Gentoo 1.4RC3 to work with my notebook.
First at all, I must say that an previously installed RC2 worked perfectly with the built in SIS 900 network adapter, but RC3 seems to have trouble detecting the device. (BTW. I'm trying RC3 from liveCD. I've messed up my previous RC2, so I can't do an emerge world)
This is what DMESG says under RC3:
sis900.c: v1.08.06 9/24/2002
PCI: Assigned IRQ 10 for device 00:03.0
PCI: Unable to reserve I/O region #1:100@cc00 for device 00:03.0
PCI: Unable to reserve I/O region #1:100@cc00 for device 00:03.0
and under RC2 (works with no problems) DMESG outputs this:
sis900.c: v1.08.04 4/25/2002
PCI: Assigned IRQ 10 for device 00:03.0
eth0: ICS LAN PHY transceiver found at address 1.
eth0: Using transceiver found at address 1 as default
eth0: SiS 900 PCI Fast Ethernet at 0xcc00, IRQ 10, 00:40:45:0f:4b:38.
As I said before, this is a notebook system. The hardware hasn't changed
between both (RC2 and RC3) installs.
Has anyone experienced the same problems?
Is there a way to fix this ?
Thanks in advance. |
