Hi everyone,
I'm looking to move my gentoo installation to a raid1 controlled array using a hardware raid controller. Does anyone have...
(1) suggestions of which raid controller will work best (please keep raid controllers to prices under $150)...
(2) suggestions on how best to move my current 20Gig gentoo installation with seperate boot partition to that of the new raid array with the least amount of hassle? I don't want to have to do a complete reinstall again and then emerge all the apps. Is there any way to avoid this?
Thanks,

I have a 3WARE Escalade 7000-2 which I got for $120. I'm running it in RAID-0 and it is supported under the linux kernel. |

yeah.. I would LOVE to get a 3Ware card, however the one I want is SERIAL ATA, and it's around $1100!
what I need is a 2 port HOT-SWAPPABLE ata100 raid card (or serial ata)
is there a cheaper 3Ware parallel ide version that will do what I want? (ie. non-serial ata)
or are there any other manufacturers of true hardware controller that could do what I need? it's for a gentoo oracle box....
thanks for your advice so far!! _________________ Kororaa install method - have Gentoo up and running quickly and easily, fully automated with an installer! |
