Hi there

I recently emerged monodevelop 0.10, 0.9, 0.12 but when I start it up I get the same following error in the console:

Try in the console:

LC_ALL="en_US.utf8" monodevelop

That solved it for me. I use utf-8. If you use another encoding try changing it to the one you are using.
