Hey!
This is my first time to install linux and it is on a sparc64 server.

The error i get is:
Cannot find /boot/linux-2.4.31-rev1 (Unknown ext2 error)
Image not found.... try again

i have the "linux-2.4.31-rev1" in my /boot directory
in my etc directory i have the "silo.conf"

this is my "fstab":
/dev/hda1 /boot ext2 noauto,noatime 1 2
/dev/hda6 / ext3 noatime 0 1
/dev/hda2 none swap sw 0 0
/dev/cdroms/cdrom0 /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,ro 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
shm /dev/shm tmpfs nodev,nosuid,noexec 0 0
none /proc/openprom openpromfs defaults

and this is my "silo.conf":
partition = 1 # Boot partition (= root partition)
root = /dev/hda6 # Root partition
timeout = 150 # Wait 15 seconds before booting the default section

image = /boot/linux-2.4.31-rev1
label = linux

any ideas what is wrong? :cry:
thanx!

Hello,

I've been working on sparc for some days (Blade 100). Try to get a kernel below 3.5MB, compile just the necessary drivers built-in (video, ide, networking) and leave others as modules. 2.6 Kernels can grow more, but 2.4.x are very limited.

This is no longer an issue in the later versions of SILO and the kernel on SPARC64. You can supposedly have a kernel up to 8MB in size now (though I can't say I've actually tried to do that :wink: )
