For that pixman bit, it does not show in firefox for me. You can find the fix if you look in the regular conrad installation guide. |

Works great!!! Fast!!! Thanks!
You guys drink beer? I'd love to send you guys (girls?) some beer, soda pop, coffee, etc money. Paypal link?
My work around for the "glibc" download problem was to NOT to do this step " rm /usr/portage/distfiles/*glibc*"
but go right to your second second step "ebuild /usr/local/portage/sys-libs/glibc/*90* digest".
Are you still looking into the "-Bdirect" problem?

BinBashBrad |

Yeah -Bdirect will be in the 1.5 version. (I will be doing increments of .5 for each release) I just need to purchase a new case for the extra parts laying around so that I can put it together and not screw up the only working box.
Update: Updated guide to include digest command for the glibc overlay due to a mismatch between the digest file and the filesize. |

For anyone who has followed this guide please make sure you have ccache emerged. I forgot to add it in, and it is now there. Thank you.
Update: I have the actual 1.5 guide ready to go. When I get my test box I will test it for any final changes and then it will go live. Alot of changes coming your way in the next: Conrad Install Guide: Dev Edition: Codenamed "He's Beginning to Believe" |

Right, but you used an 'l' in your guide:
Code: | CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS} -fvisibility-inlines-hidden -Wl,-Ol" |
You used 'Ol', not 'O1'. I'm just letting you be aware of the typo, just in case someone does a copy and paste of your make.conf in the second part. _________________ Viper-Sources Maintainer || nesl247 Projects || vipernicus.org blog |

which i did rrgh! as well as the ccache rrrgh! (jk no big deal i understand it's a brand new guide) i'm doing an emerge -e world right now to set it straight. here is what ive been able to do so far, "base system (no probs after i applied the glibc branch update fix) and xorg 7.0 (after the cairo fix), and part of gnome -light (up to firefox and/or mozilla)" my ultimate goal is xfce4 with all bells n whistles, etc. etc. i was unable to compile firefox or mozilla which is keeping me from finishing my system, im currently using firefox-bin in an xterm to post this, hopefully after my world is done compiling ill be able to emerge firefox, and then gnome-light and xfce4. hey nesl i noticed in the gcc 4.1 beta thread that you had problems compiling firefox as well, did you ever get er' done? i didn't see a solution posted, and it seemed like everyone else was able to compile ff fine. if you solved it would you post the solution in case i still cannot compile ff or mozilla after im done with reemergeing world? also maybe you could add the cairo fix from the whoosh guide to this one in case anyone else has probs with cairo. peace mafi _________________ persistance is THE key to success

I am not going to add any new features to this version. 1.5 will contain a cvs version of it and will take care of that problem. The error for mozilla-firefox, does it happen to be something about jb_bp? If so I will package an overlay for it that contains the fix. |

I will be releasing 1.5 within the next 2 days. I am just rebuilding the toolchain then rebuilding world to test out the new ldflags. Anything else would just be a minor bugfix release. |

Hmm, I've had that problem with -Bdirect, simply specifying, LDFLAGS="" emerge mozilla-firefox fixed it
or you can simply settle for mozilla-firefox-bin, if all else fails, I do not know if you use Bdirect... or what :-p _________________ IRC!: #zen-sources on irc.rizon.net

The error is not related to -Bdirect when using glibc 2.3.90.x. It is related to the fact that glibc no longer exports jb_bp. (According to the bug report) |

groan lol here is the latest compile error i recieved while compiling evolution libgdiplus fails from the same error as cairo, from what ive been able to find out libgdiplus uses its own internal build of cairo. is there any way to force it to use the aready fixed system version of cairo? or apply the cairo fix to the libgdiplus version? from what ive read this is the last major block to using this tool chain. that would make my a$$ happy as h311.

You bet...xorg-x11-7.0-r1 works great...just got through doing the cvs e17-.9999 ebuild....man..talk about eye-candy..I probally will not go back to KDE!!! Was just about to emerge a browser...maybe Opera-9.0*.
The only problem I had was cairo..did the fix..smooth sailing from there.
I copied/paste the 2nd make.conf. What do I need to do? emerge -e world? -e system? -e system && -e world?
