Hello,
I had a though problem these last days installing a cluster over here. One of the machines, which I destinated to be the server (all are the same except the second NIC) had the following configuration:
Sun Blade 100
20GB HDD
128 MB RAM
Sun Gem 10/100/1000 Ethernet
Sun HappyMeal 10/100 Ethernet
After some reading, I disabled he global MAC and let every NIC have its on MAC address. Both cards should be recognized by the gentoo minimal install disc (using 2005.1) but only the on-board mac appears for both of them.
I checked the integrity of the NICs, they are ok. And when I used the NetBDS disk both NICs were setup with their MACs adequately.
OpenBoot is 4.5
A complete reference of the problem and the whole story is in the thread https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-426776.html. It says solved but related to networking. Keeps unsolved here.
