Hallo Zusammen :D

nach einem harten Kampf mit meiner xorg.conf (für sowas habe ich kein Händchen *sniff*) habe ich nun - für meine Kids - auch unter meinem zweitältesten PC ein Gentoo soweit erfolgreich laufen.

Einziger Makel ist die seltsame Auflösung, die ich auch nach Durcharbeiten diverser Howtos nicht in den Griff bekomme. Das Problem hatte ich auf meinen übrigen Computern bislang nicht und finde auch nicht den Auslöser. Wahrscheinlich sitze ich einfach schon wieder zu lange davor und sehe den kleinen Haken einfach nicht mehr :roll:

Die Auflösung von z.B. Fluxbox, Bluefish und Gaim ist völlig korrekt wie ich es von einer Anzeige mit 1024x768 her kenne.
Bei Programmen wie Firefox, Sylpheed, Xmms oder auch xterm hingegen ist die Oberfläche sehr winzig und schmal, die Schrift gerade noch so lesbar das man navigieren kann - aber nichts für dauerhaftes Arbeiten. Sieht halt aus als wäre die Auflösung viel zu hoch eingestellt, aber die xorg.conf sollte eigentlich nicht mehr das Problem sein - oder doch?

Vielleicht mag sich mal jemand meine xorg.conf angucken oder hat eine andere Idee warum einige Programme falsch dargestellt werden?
Die Einträge für den Monitor sollten stimmen. Ist schon ein älteres Teilchen, das auch ohne falsche xorg-Konfiguration ein bissel flimmert und wegen dem Handbuch musste ich recht lange in meinem Keller buddeln, aber zumindest raucht er noch nicht :oops: ... ist ein Yakumo DPS 1564, falls das hilft.
Die Grafikkarte ist eine GeForce2 MX/MX 400 laut lspci. Mit xorgconfig konnte ich allerdings nur Nvidia Geforce auswählen und nicht weiter spezifizieren.

Guten Morgen,

Firefox läuft bei mir immer mit einer fixen-min.font-Größe. (Verdana 16)
und Seiten das verwenden von eigenen Schriften nicht erlauben.

Bei Xmms, Xterm ect. "analog" vorgehen!

Ja, so habe ich Firefox derzeit auch eingestellt, aber das eigentliche Problem löst das ja leider nicht.
So sind die Webseiten zwar lesbar, aber die programmeigenen Buttons, Eingabefelder ect. bleiben winzig schmal.
Ebenso Xmms, wo zwar die Schrift dann lesbar wird, das Programmfenster selbst aber unhandlich mini bleibt.

Ist ja auch nicht normal an diversen Programme manuell rumflickern zu müssen, hier muss doch irgendwo irgendwas nicht richtig eingestellt sein? :?

Hi,

liegt es vielleicht daran, dass in deiner xorg die Truetype-Fonts kommentiert sind? Kommentiere sie mal aus.

Das beschriebene Fehlerbild hört sich nach einem DPI-Problem an.

Was für einen Monitor benutzt Du? Auflösung 1024x768, das sagtest Du bereits.
Versuch Dich mal an der Einstellung "DisplaySize" in der "Monitor" Section (siehe Manpage), um die DPI-Zahl an die Ausmaße Deines Monitors anzupassen.

Bei laufendem X kannst Du die aktuell verwendete DPI mit dem Kommando
Code:
xdpyinfo | grep resolution
auslesen.

Höhere DPI-Zahl bedeutet größer dargestellte Schriften.

Wenn das nicht helfen sollte, wirst Du Dir die Konfigurationsmöglichkeiten zu fontconfig2 ansehen müssen (/etc/fonts/*, ~/.fonts.conf)

manchmal lohnt es sich doch den PC mal einen Tag aus zu lassen. Das Problem hat sich ganz fix gelöst, indem ich die Auflösung von 1280x1024 einfach gelöscht habe.
Ob das jetzt die ideale Lösung ist, weiss ich nicht, aber's hat geholfen ;)
