|
|
Hi,
Using 2.6.12-gentoo-r10 kernel, Fluxbox.
Attempting to use a module I have compiled. So,in xterm as root, I enter -
modprobe /home/mark/webcam1/sonixcam-module-20040526/src/sonixcam.ko
which should modprobe the module, and I get this back -
FATAL: Module /home/mark/webcam1/sonixcam_module_20040526/src/sonixcam.ko not found.
As you can see, the hyphen has been replaced by an underscore! Obviously, that particular directory does not exist.
Doing a simple echo, using a phrase with hyphens in it gives me the correct phrase back - with the hyphens not changed.
This is totally new to me. Never seen this before in Gentoo ( or any other Linux distro!).
Ideas welcome - its doing my head in!
Thanks, Mark |

Thanks for the reply. Yep - my bad - seems I had used insmod before, rather than modprobe.
Learn something new every day with Linux! - and _ no different in module names.
Useful info - many thanks - I should have checked man modprobe first I guess.
Cheers,
