Hi,
I just got a problem with compiling openoffice 2.0.1-
I got gcc 3.3.6 and glibc 2.3.3-2004.0420-r2 and
Blackdown Java JDK 1.4.1-r1.
Well, OpenOffice fails with a java exception, which says, that there are some ugly things in the lib nss-files, which, if I remeber right, is part of the glibc
So I Looked at blackdown and found :
Notes for the SPARC Version:
===========================
For SPARC only a gcc-3.2.1 based build is available.
* Requirements:
- v9 architecture (v8 should work but has not been test, v7 is not
supported)
- glibc-2.2.5 or newer
- kernel 2.4.18 or newer
- XFree 4.1 or newer
- libstdc++ from gcc-3.2 or newer
- Mozilla 1.0 or newer built with gcc-3.2 or newer (needed only
for the Java Plug-In)
* Sound limitations:
- Only built-in sound devices are supported in this release
(PC-style PCI sound cards are not supported)
- Recording is not supported yet (it might work but it is untested
due to kernel problems)
Blackdown Java-Linux Team
Well, so, as OpenOffice is not masked, well, what to do to get it running ?
krgds,

Java is b0rked. Evil java.
I'm not sure if OO2 has a java USE flag, but if it does, you'll need to disable it.
EDIT: ... and on inspection, it does have a JAVA use flag, so disable it. Why the java USE-flag is able to be enabled at all is beyond me. |

Yes, java bad in sparc at the moment.
And it's actually going away pretty soon since blackdown hasn't released a new one in some time, which stops us from using new stuff like glibc which breaks it even more.
USE="-java" and it'll work just fine, i'll hardcode that into the ebuilds when i get some time. _________________ Gustavo Zacarias
