Microsoft Intellimouse drivers

hey all,
so i have a 5-button microsoft intellimouse with side-scrolling, the advanced features of the mouse aren't all that important to me on linux but the scroll wheel doesn't work and its bugging the heck out of me, i don't really know enough to know how to fix this problem, i assume it has something to do with the drivers but i really don't know, any suggestions?
