After searching around I haven't been able to find much info regarding ASUS video cards in these forums.

My problem is with the ASUS V6800(pure) GeForce 256. First of all I have no idea which driver I should load for this card.
Second I have setup my xorg.conf to load the generic vga driver and this doesn't seem to work at all, I end up getting a blank screen when I run startx.

I have setup my .xinitrc in my home directory with the following (for testing purposes)

Code:
#!/bin/sh
        twm &
        xclock -geometry 50x50-1+1 &
        xterm -geometry 80x50+494+51 &
        xterm -geometry 80x20+494-0 &
        exec xterm -geometry 80x66+0+0 -name login

When I try to run startx as root I get a "no screens found" error.

Edit: I have commented out the 16bit and 24bit screen subsections leaving only 8bit with 640x480 resolution and I can now get X to start while logged in as root, but it hangs with a blank screen aswell.

Although it wasn't the cause of my problems in this thread, I found out that my card was ready to die. I eventually got xorg to work with it... but I found my screen to be full of lines and artifacts and 'flipping' randomly :(

So I just bought a new card. Problem solved. :D
