Maybe python-updater will help?
In this case simply emerge pyogg should do the trick, but this means that you should run
python-updater anyway.

I had an identical problem to the original poster. By doing:

Code:

python-updater
emerge unmerge pyvorbis
emerge pyvorbis

I was able to get pyvorbis installed properly, even though the updater program said it couldn't install pyvorbis.

There must be a bug in some ebuild somewhere which is making the above steps necessary to upgrade pyvorbis.

Well, I emerged pyogg... However this seems to be a direct dependency to pyvorbis which should be handled by portage..

Sincerely,

I had the exact same problem as author.

I as well had to emerge pyogg and then it would emerge pyvorbis

OK, I have the same problem. I've posted a bug report here: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128544
