Code:
fix_libtool_files.sh 3.3.5-20050130 --oldarch i386-pc-linux-gnu

fixes a problem concerning the missing file: "/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.5-20050130/libstdc++.la"

the thing is - i have no idea why.

in my make.conf i specified that my cpu type is an athlon-xp and while doing some research on the entry chost i came across a howto telling me that my arch type is i686-pc-linux-gnu. basicly i pasted the configuration into make.conf.

so my question is: why does gcc work with <<i386-pc-linux-gnu>> but not with the "real" type <<i686-pc-linux-gnu>>?

make.conf:

    CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -03 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
    CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
    CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -03 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
    USE="firefox gtk gtk2 cdr debus dvd kde qt hal nls hown alsa"
    MAKEOPTS="-j2"
    FEATURES="ccache"
    CCACHE_SIZE="2G"
    CCACHE_DIR="/mnt/Fundgrube/linux_tmp/ccache"
    PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/mnt/Fundgrube/linux_tmp/portage"
    LINGUAS="de"

thank you for your time and effords in advance...

You cannot change CHOST without rebuilding your system - beginning with bootstrap.sh.
