I've been using gentoo for a number of years and often in the past made a local mirror for our network. We've maintained a mirror for some time but some number of months ago the default setup for the gentoo-rsync-mirror scripts refused to work correctly. I do use hardened gentoo on all our servers some with selinux and all use pax and grsec with full security enabled in the kernel. This all said i'm at a loss to explain the following errors.

Code:
anvil ~ # sh /opt/gentoo-rsync/rsync-gentoo-portage.sh
: command not foundsync-gentoo-portage.sh: line 2:
: No such file or directorytoo-portage.sh: line 3: /etc/rsync/gentoo-mirror.conf

anvil ~ # uname -a
Linux anvil 2.6.14-hardened #1 SMP Fri Dec 2 03:24:32 CST 2005 x86_64 AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 246 AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux

after checking logs it would appear that there is a problem. Anvil runs hardned gentoo with selinux. I've tried to use non hardened systems aswell and recieve the same error regardless. I'm sure there's a mirror admin out there that could use a break from our 10 orso servers mirroring from the same gateway every day. If someone has a suggestion as to what might be the cause of this i'm all ears :)

I just had the same problem, and have fixed it. The problem is that there is a dos style carriage return at the end of the first line of gentoo-rsync-portage.sh that is screwing everything up. To fix it

emerge dos2unix
dos2unix /opt/gentoo-rsync/sync-gentoo-portage.sh
