Good day everyone,

My thunderbird crashes eratically. It always happen when I open a New message composition window (either by clicking on Write, Forward, Reply), but it's erratic because it does not happen each time I open a composition window.

Anyone could help me to solve that? I've tried to rebuild and rebuild, and it still happens.

That's what I get when thunderbird is run from the command line:
Code:

$ thunderbird
No running windows found

(thunderbird-bin:19278): Gdk-WARNING **: gdk_property_get(): length value has wrapped in calculation (did you pass G_MAXLONG?)

[THE FOLLOWING APPEARS ONCE I KILL THE APP]
*** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0xbfe0b48c ***
/usr/libexec/mozilla-launcher: line 116: 19278 Killed                  "$mozbin" "$@"
thunderbird-bin exited with non-zero status (137)

I have the latest stable versions: mozilla-thunderbird-1.0.7 and mozilla-launcher-1.42
I've tried to use mozilla-thunderbird-1.0.7-r3 but the same happens. I haven't tried unstable mozilla-launcher though.

Thanks for your help,

This same problem happened to me. Save your addy book somewhere then rm -rf .thunderbird Then unmerge and remerge, rebuild and rebuild, but the problem is something in the .thunderbird folder that needs to be reset.

Just to let you know that I've done the following yesterday: I moved away my .thunderbird/ folder and kept it in a safe place :wink:
I unmerged mozilla-thunderbird, and I had the surprise to see at the end of the process:
Code:
/usr/libexec/mozilla-launcher: can't find the browser :-(

I don't know if it's related or not.
Anyway in a brave move to solve that for good, I unmerged mozilla-firefox and got the same error message. I then unmerged mozilla-launcher.
I eventually reinstalled the 3 packages, and now I'm waiting to see if it happens again. So far so good.
By the way I upgraded to mozilla-firefox-1.0.7-r4 without any problem this morning and when portage unmerged the previous version (which I had just reinstalled yesterday!) I did not get the error message mentionned above.
So... I'm optimistic. :wink:

Cheers!

Well, in fact, I have again the same problem: I wanted to reply to a message in thunderbird and it freezes. I have to kill it and restart. :x
I'm gonna try the latest unstable versions of mozilla-launcher and mozilla-thunderbird...

Still same issue with
Code:

*  mail-client/mozilla-thunderbird
      Latest version available: 1.0.7-r3
      Latest version installed: 1.0.7-r3
*  www-client/mozilla-launcher
      Latest version available: 1.45
      Latest version installed: 1.45

I'm gonna try thunderbird-bin.
