Hi,
i compiled my kernel without PCMCIA,
compiled pcmcia-cs.
So long so fine
When i start /etc/init.d/ pcmcia start
i result in watching 1 socket.
when i insert the card
3com airconnect 3crwe73796b
no driver loads (it sould be orinoco_cs)
when i try to load it manually it fails also.
The system trys to load hermes, orinoco and orinoco_cs
when i modprobe orinoco_cs
the systems tells me:
unresolved symbol hermes_init
orinoco.o failed
orinoco_cs failed
Anyone can give me a hint where to get other drivers and
how to compile them ?
Best Regards,
Rainer |

Did you get anywhere on this one?
I just upgraded pcmcia-cs and have the same error message - it used to work fine .
My card is an SMC 2632W, fwiw.
My first approach will be to go back to the previous version of pcmcia-cs, I'll post my results here, but any other info would be appreciated. _________________ .sig: access denied |

Well, I'm stumped. I've been back to the old version (no joy), upgraded my kernel (no joy), gone back to the latest version (no joy) and now I am perplexed. Still the hermes_init error.

Well, I emerged pcmcia-cs-3.2.1-r3.ebuild and after a bit of fooling around I think that I'm back to being stable.
I upgraded my kernel to the latest gentoo-sources while I was at it, one of the many things I tried (and each time I did a make modules_install, yup, I had to reemerge the alsadriver
hope this helps someone, I'm not desperately posting to get beyond "noob" state _________________ .sig: access denied |
