I have had one hell of a time trying to get the ALSA drivers working with it. Anyone here have any luck with this soundcard chip set?

Here is what I get when I try to start alsa sound.
Code:

./alsasound start
 * Initialising ALSA....
 * Starting sound driver: snd-intel8x0 /lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/sound/soundcore.o: unresolved symbol request_module_R27e4dc04
/lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/sound/soundcore.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/sound/soundcore.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/sound/soundcore.o: insmod snd-intel8x  [ ok ]

I am just at a loss when i get this error... I followed the ALSA gentoo howto so I am just stumped now :?

Have you upgraded your kernel lately? If you have you need to "emerge alsa-driver" again. It's a pain, but for the 2.4.x kernel you need to "emerge alsa-driver" each time you upgrade/downgrade your kernel.
