ok just recently finished my installation. my sound only works with root i am in the audio group totem only works with root i (i get this play back error "Could not get/set settings from/on resource." and my computer is running extremely slow the smallest task takes an eternity |

The top command should show you if you have any processes eating CPU.
The free command should show you if you're running short of memory (hitting shift-M in top shows processes ordered by memory usage).
Do these give any clues?
I'm not sure about the audio thing - you could try strace'ing totem to see which resource it's complaining about. |

i check whats running i think its the prossesor family i picked but i cant explain that sound or totem im going to recompile my kernel when i get home |
