I did emerge --update system.
Now x won't start so I can't run Xorg -configure.
The error is
Duplicate symbol __i686.get_pc_thunk.bx in /usr/lib/modules/fonts/libbitmap.a:bitmapmod.o
Also defined in /usr/lib/modules/fonts/libbitmap.a
Fatal Server Error
Module Load Failure
x86 (athlon XP); kernel 2.6.10; no masked packages used here; ATI RV280 graphics.
It was working perfectly before/ |

What version of xorg did you have and what version of xorg do you have? _________________ Linus Torvalds: "Really, I'm not out to destroy Microsoft. That will just be a completely unintentional side effect." |

Current version is 6.8.2
old version - not sure, but it could have been a 6.7.0 version. |

ok this is solved, the answer was in the forum and more delving found it,
USE="dlloader" emerge xorg-x11
It is a problem with the xorg dynamic loader which is broken, the dlloader USE flag forces the use of the Gentoo native one. |
