Hi, I'm installing kde 3.5, when it gets to kdenetwork, I get this error, by now, I installed all the other packages in the kde ebuild manually exept for kdewebdev and kdeedu, and the only thing that's stoping me from leaving 3.4.1 is this, any help will be apreciated. Of course I searched the forums but didn't find anything similar.
Here's the error:
Code: | /bin/sh ../../../libtool --silent --tag=CXX --mode=link g++ -Wno-long-long -Wundef -ansi -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=500 -D_BSD_SOURCE -Wcast-align -Wconversion -Wchar-subscripts -Wall -W -Wpointer-arith -DNDEBUG -DNO_DEBUG -O2 -O2 -mcpu=i686 -pipe -Wformat-security -Wmissing-format-attribute -Wno-non-virtual-dtor -fno-exceptions -fno-check-new -fno-common -DQT_CLEAN_NAMESPACE -DQT_NO_ASCII_CAST -DQT_NO_STL -DQT_NO_COMPAT -DQT_NO_TRANSLATION -o libkvideoio.la -no-undefined -Wl,--no-undefined -Wl,--allow-shlib-undefined -L/usr/kde/3.5/lib -L/usr/qt/3/lib -L/usr/lib -version-info 1:0:0 libkvideoio_la.all_cpp.lo -lqt-mt -lz -lpng -lz -lm -lXext -lX11 -lSM -lICE -lpthread -lkdecore

Hi, are you installing the split ebuilds or the complete packages? Generally it would be a good idea to install the split e-builds, because now your compilation stops at kopete, and if you could bypass it, it could let you finish the compilation. You could bypass it with split ebuilds, but i guess you can't with the old-fashioned packages. _________________ "Yep linux is an alternative. Windows on the other hand isn't even an option"

I'm installing with "emerge kde" and when it failed, I tryed "emerge kdenetwork", I guess that's what you call "complete packages" _________________ I am Beta, don't expect correct behaviour from me.

There is a bug logged for this - 114027
One interesting comment was "I have Qt 3.3.5 and kopete built fine"

No problem.
Has anyone noticed if the recent updates to some of the monolith kde builds fix this problem? I haven't been able to try myself yet, just hoping the recent drop in noise about this issue means it was fixed... |

I don't think it's fixed. the ebuild is the same here (I sync at 3am local time every day) _________________ I am Beta, don't expect correct behaviour from me.

I upgraded to linux-headers-2.6.11-r3 from linux-headers-2.6.8.1 and that has fixed this issue for me . This was suggested on the bug report for 114207. |

I already have the lastest installed... I'll re-emerge it to see if it makes a difference... brb...
UPDATE: Re-emerging linux-headers did not solve the problem for me... |

I want to try this but portage wants to downgrade me:
[ebuild UD] sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.4.26-r1 [2.6.8.1-r4] 30,051 kB
How do I stay in 2.6?? _________________ I am Beta, don't expect correct behaviour from me.

You can also try
Code: |
export DO_NOT_COMPILE="kopete"
emerge kdenetwork
|
Thats works for me, but it doesn't install kopete. |

ok, well i'm having the same issue. I guess since qt 3.3.5 is hard masked, I'm going to avoid it and go with 4.1.0-r1 and see what that does. Succeed or fail, I'll post it here. _________________ Kris Edwards

Still a no go for me.. It's still looking at qt3 stuff. I'm going to look in the ebuild and see if there is a configure option to specify where to look (I tried setting QTDIR to qt4, but it didn't work for me)
Code: |
checking for perl... /usr/bin/perl
checking for Qt... libraries /usr/qt/3/lib64, headers /usr/qt/3/include using -mt
checking for moc... /usr/qt/3/bin/moc
checking for uic... /usr/qt/3/bin/uic
|
Seems like if the problem was qt being outdated, the configure script would fail.. Is this (like so many other problems I have) an amd64 issue, or are some of you on x86 or some other arch? _________________ Kris Edwards
