Hallo!
Ich bin neu in diesem Forum und mit Linux nicht besonders vertraut. Ich möchte es ausprobieren,
aber auf WinXP vorerst nicht verzichten. Also habe ich mir überlegt, ich könnte es ja auf meiner
externen USB-Festplatte installieren.
Jetzt bin ich etwas verwirrt. /dev/hda soll die erste Festplatte sein, /dev/sda bei SCSI oder
SATA. Aber wie ist die Bezeichnung für eine USB-HD? Kann ich Gentoo einfach darauf installieren,
oder sollte ich die Platte lieber an meinen Festplattencontroller onBoard hängen, danach wieder ins
USB-Gehäuse einbauen, und von dort aus booten?

Also während der Installation ist das ziemlich egal.
USB-HDDs werden, da sie über SCSI emuliert werden, auch als /dev/sdX angelegt.
Diese kannst du dann ganz normal partitionieren usw.
Beim Bootloader kommt es jetzt aber darauf an. Ich weiss nicht ob grub da schon USB-Geräte erkennt. Sonst bleibt dir nur noch das direkte booten von USB und das unterstützt nicht jedes Mainboard.
Vielleicht hat damit aber schon jemand Erfahrung hier. _________________ ...it's only Rock'n'Roll, but I like it! |
