|
I'm running enlightenment 17 from CVS. It's purty. Unfortunately, when xscreensaver activates, it prints some ANNOYING text. It's printing the following:
Code: | xscreensaver: 21:31:36: 0: for window 0x76 (root) |
Obviously that's a timestamp and some other persistent nonsense. It prints this every couple seconds, and will print as many as 8 (probably more) lines.
I have a ~/.xscreensaver file; it reads:
Code: |

However, I get the feeling it may not be reading from this file. I have many window managers emerged.
Anyway, any ideas are greatly appriciated.

Also, I'm wondering if by changing the nice value, I might can get xscreensaver to run smoothly during compiling (IE, emerging)
Thanks!

Ahem. Well it occurred to me that ~/.xscreensaver is a different file for each user. So the line:
is the offending option, as it turns out.
EDIT: After gazing at the screensaver "Euphoria" (search google for "really slick screensavers") the text is still appearing, though i'm almost certain its less frequent.
How irritating.

You're not alone, I've got the same issue on my laptop. I've been meaning to figure out what the issue is for ages, but haven't gotten around to it. _________________ What are you, stupid? |

I figured other people surely had the same issues. For a while, since E is from CVS, I figured that eventually the problem would cease after an update, but that hasn't been the case.
Oh well. _________________ http://blog.stephenashelton.com/ |

hi.
Thats an error of xscreensaver. Apparently the problem is solved and the issue will disapear in future versions of xscreensaver.
Mean while you can use an simple workaround.
Edit your eap file to (or launch screensaver with):
Code: | xscreensaver 2> /dev/null |
that will send any errors to /dev/null (hope is not full ) and not to root window. |

And speaking of E17 and xscreensaver, how do you get xscreensaver to grab the desktop? |

I set this in .xscreensaver to get it to work:
Code: | grabDesktopImages: True |
Hope it helps you! |

Kind of. I had to disable grabVideoFrames, and now it seems to work. Thanks! |

Strange, mine works even with: Code: | grabVideoFrames: True |
I have the sensation that it fails to grab desktop images more then with xfce or gnome, but thats maybe just a feeling or something related to the way E draws the background.
btw, xscreensaver version 4.23 is stable now at portage and make unnecessary the:
xscreensaver 2> /dev/null |
