Вот в системе портеже есть два пакета mozilla-firefox и mozilla-firefox-bin.
Хотелось бы знать в чем их отличия.
Равно как и для OpenOffice.

mozilla-firefox-bin уже откомпилированая программа
mozilla-firefox нужно собирать

app-office/openoffice для сборки
app-office/openoffice-bin собраный
app-office/openoffice-ximian-bin собраный с разными хаками
app-office/openoffice-ximian для сборки с хаками
