|

Is there something along the lines of a front-end GUI for gcc? or do I have to type everything into a text file and a command line... I know there is kdevelop but I don't know if that's what I need and I don't want to use KDE, I want to use GTK... Anyways what I need is a place to type my C++ code (other than nano) and a place that will help me in the design of my GTK GUIs. Thanks. _________________ PowerBook G3, 400 Mhz, 192 megs of Ram Running Gentoo 1.4 and XFCE4 |

I found that Glade is a nice and easy way to develop the front end. |

Yeah that's the name I wanted, heh, I've been googling for "glide" and getting frustrated lol. ok I'm emerging glade, is there anything else I need to emerge in order to code GTK apps in C++ (another thing for glade?) because emerge search glade came up with a bunch of other things, some C++ related.
But my 2nd question remains unanswered is there a good GUI anyone would recommend for gcc? _________________ PowerBook G3, 400 Mhz, 192 megs of Ram Running Gentoo 1.4 and XFCE4 |

ok well Glade's done, I'm going to read a manual and learn how to use it, as I have no idea of how to use it at all. Then I'm going to brush up on my C++ and the OOP part of C++ because I've only learned OOP in Java, and then I'm off to code - to code like no man has ever coded before ... heh, nm.
Anyways, GUI for gcc? I mean like MS VC++ has a development enviroment where I can type code and it'll highlite it for me and etc etc etc and it even does syntax checks while I'm typing it, is there anything like this for GCC?
For windows I found bloodshed, I can't find anything like this for Linux, am I not looking hard enough? _________________ PowerBook G3, 400 Mhz, 192 megs of Ram Running Gentoo 1.4 and XFCE4 |

3 responses and no mention of Anjuta? It's a nice IDE written in gtk. It integrates well with gcc and glade and has features for creating make files and such. It has good highlighting and such. I like it a lot. _________________ Excellent.. |

There is always Kdevelop, you dont HAVE to program KDE stuff in it....Its pretty similiar to a VS type layout _________________ ------------

There are several Gtk+ bindings for C++, the official one being gtkmm. |

there are very options for c++ programming, if you have kde2 your choice is kdestudio, if you use kde3, your best choice is kdevelop, if you use gnome, your choices are glade, anjuta and others (antuja is very good btw) and finally(but not worst) you can use a people's choice, xemacs good luck _________________ GOD rules |
