|

Hello all,
I am running gnome-2.12 and am having problems with my automount.
Whenever Insert a CD or plug in my iPod it does mount the device, however it doesn't show a desktop icon.
Going to Places -> Computer and clickin on my DVD-Rom drive does not work.
The only thing that works is browsing to /media/cdrom or media/ipod manually.
Is there any known solution for this? |

In the big thread about GNOME 2.12 a guy by the name of lokheed posted a patch to fix gnome-vfs (this is an issue of gnome-vfs and hal fighting for device control), but the patch doesn't seem to work with the current gnome-vfs-2.12.1.1 ebuild. I'd say at this time all you can really do is wait :-/ |

I had a similar problem with Gnome 2.12, but it seems to have cleared up when I went to the 2.6.14 kernel and udev 73 (I upgraded both at the same time, so really can't say which did the trick). Now when I mount my usb drive (not automatically, but by clicking on the icons in Nautilus), icons for the partitions show up on the desktop. |
