So i got everything working great with linux-wlan-ng drivers but im having trouble with the wlancfg-ESSID config files, ive created file for the proper essids but wlan always reads the DEFAULT file D:

you have to change the settings of the ESSID in some file..- I don't remember where exactly, as I don't use linux-wlan-ng anymore, but it was in the same folder as the wlancfg files..
I guess you use a prism chipset, I'd recommand you to switch to hostap-driver or orinoco (from portage), as they work together with wirelss-tools, you could then use /etc/conf.d/wirelss for configuration and also esteblish a dynamic setting for different ESSID's as both drivers support scanning. This is much less hustle..

yup i finally sat down and put a lil thought into this and figured out that all i had to do was set a list of ESSIDs in /etc/conf.d/wlan.conf
