Hi,
as there's no working audio driver for the built-in audio device of SGI-O2 so far I just gave an old m-audio ICE-1712 pci soundcard a try.

lspci does regocnize the card properly and after I compiled the corresponding modules on Kernel-2.6.13.4-mipscvs20050914 I modprobe'd:

Here's the result:

Code:

The driver just segfaults...

So I installed a Creative Labs Soundblaster Live (snd_ens1371) with almost the same result. This driver also segfaults.

I'm not quite sure, if it's a driver problem, or due to the fact, that pci on SGI-O2 is still experimental...
Any Ideas on how to make either soundcard working?

Regards,
Harry

As far as my experience goes, modules have been a little wonky for me on mips, so I've stuck to monolithic kernels. You might try building all the needed sound drivers in and see if it works then. O2's PCI works for the most part (I use a USB 2.0 card in mine), but is known to still have some "quirks" in hidden places. You may've just stumbled onto one of those.

I also tried to use the drivers built in. After rebooting, the kernel panics and i have to reset the machine. If I use the drivers as modules, they just segfault but leave the kernel working.

I've managed to compile kernel 2.6.15-rc2 now, but the modules still segfault.

Maybe it's because I'm using a 64bit Kernel?
