I have an old HP Laserjet III printer hooked up to my Gentoo server and it's shared to Windows and Linux machines using CUPS. Printing from the Windows machines works great using the printer as an HTTP printer. Printing from a linux machine using CUPS to the CUPS server doesn't work so good. The information on the printed page is shifted too far to the right. I tried using the foomatic driver on the server and that just made things worse. Using the laserjet driver that cups with CUPS yeilds the best results but I still don't like how its shifted on the page. What can I do to fix this? |

Well I had no luck in getting the HPIJS driver working with my printer. It looks like the gimp-print driver works best for me. Things still aren't perfectly centered on the page when printing from Linux but I can live with it. Thanks for the useful link though. That site has lots of good info. |
