I've got two NIC's connected to two different networks - One NIC, eth0, is connected to a dedicated DSL line. The other NIC, eth1, is connected to a router with two other computers on a cable connection. This NIC is used primarily as either a failsafe, or for talking to the other computers, which is something that happens often (since one is a server).
Gentoo seems to be using eth1 exclusively. All HTTP requests and other network connections are going through eth1, which is not only slow, but also slows down the other computers as well. I need eth0 to be the default NIC to use for outgoing connections and have eth1 come into play only for LAN/fallback purposes. How do I go about setting this up? |

Change your default route to go over eth0 rather than eth1. Also check you don't have two "default" routes, as behavior can be weird in that case. |
