I'm using the wiki guide http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Xvnc_terminal_server
It worked!!! Well, until I the moment I got stuck on the infamous grey xdm screen.
But now every time i try to do:
| Code: | | $ vncviewer localhost:81 |
there comes an instant message from the VNC server.
| Code: | | vncviewer: VNC server closed connection |
I've been searching the web/forum for while now, but I haven't found a solution. I can't seem to pin down what is causing the problem. Any pointers would be helpful... tia. Need more info? Feel free to ask.

has everything setup from nobody and when you try to do this from the user nobody:

nobody@desktop /root $ vncviewer localhost:71
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
Error: Can't open display: :0.0
