I am building on a Cyrix 266 system starting from a minimal CD install, but having wgot the stage3 1.4 rc3 tar ball. After chrooting and sourcing /etc/profile, I emerge sync successfully, but then when I 'emerge -u world', binutils is crashing with a segmentation fault in regex.c:5329 and sometimes in cp-demangle.c:3916. I am using '-pipe -O2' in my make.conf. Ideas? I noticed in cp-demangle.c on line 3914 a seemingly errant 'c' just sitting alone on a line. Not sure what to think of that.[/i] |

This problem is seeming more and more random. I removed the -O2 and -pipe from CFLAGS and even all the arch info (was i586). Now, it seg-faults in libbfd.c:501. This is too weird. |

if the error is getting more random, it might be a hardware problem - check the memory and the hd... _________________ To an engineer the glass is neither half full, nor half empty - it is just twice as big as it needs to be. |
