I can't seem to get this working. I had it working on a 32-bit debian install but since I moved back to gentoo 64-bit I can't get this game to work. I had all my games installed to /opt/games and the others work fine, doom3, americas army, et, but not quake 4. What's missing? I came across this thread... http://ppj.telefragged.com/news/feedback.php?identiferID=7972&action=flatview, and about 6 or 7 posts down or so I found

FWIW, I am running it on gentoo amd64. I copied libSDL, libX11 and libXext from a Debian unstable 32-bit system into the base quake4 directory for it to work. No problems so far, but haven't had time to play it much either. |
I had a friend tar these 3 files up from his 32-bit gentoo install and dropped them in the base base q4 dir and now I get the following..
Quote: | ./quake4.x86: error while loading shared libraries: libvga.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
|
Now what? And if I solve this one how many more will I need to solve? Does someone know where I can find a HOWTO run Quake 4 for stupid 64-bit users? This is really disappointing. :" ( I was all excited when I heard about the linux client and ran right out to get it and now I can't play it! I only played it for a few hours before Debian urked me the wrong way and off it came. 2 painful weeks, ack. Anyways.. thanks for your time all. |

Thanks that seemed to work. But is there a package I could emerge that would handle this 32-bit library dependancy? I already have all the x86 emul packages installed. |

Mine worked just by emerging the emul stuff... mainly emul-linux-x86-sdl, I think. |

"emerge quake4-bin" works fine here... it even pulls in the right dependencies... _________________ Ex-Gentoo Developer
