ive already searched the forums for the answer to this but i found out why it does it and not how to turn it off. Every so often i get "sendmail cant reach port 25 smpt" or something. Now i think its trying to leave messages for me about the system but i dont want it to. any idea how to turn it off?if not off how to set it up to stop it from doing this because its annoying the hell outta me. :)

Hi,
why not use Postfix as an MTA, it's easy to setup and manage and it's code is written with security in mind.
Since i use Postfix i spend much less time on MTA configuration.

I had the same problem as well. What I did was to emerge -C ssmtp and emerge postfix. Problem gone :)
