HELP! 8O I've been struggling with this for three weeks now! At first I made a couple of bonehead mistakes, but even after fixing them I'm still having trouble. I'm not sure what's wrong, exactly... but I think it might be something to do with IRQ's. At the end of my post is a peek at my pci bus. At first I forgot to compile in support for the VIA ide controller, adding that got me from 15 mb/s to 22-25 mb/s. Then a coworker suggested I look at my IRQ's, and when I did they were all set to either 5 or 10. Sooooo.... I fiddled around and got APIC working (I hadn't compiled it in) but that doesn't seem to have made a difference (well, it did spread my IRQ's out a bit.. but they seem high and it didn't fix my problems). So if you've got this board working would you please please be kind enough to tell me how? Even if you don't have the board and know how to fix my problems, I'd still be happy!
Sorry for the long post, but I tried to describe my setup and my symptoms as well as possible. I REALLY don't want to have to throw windows on a spare drive and use it, but I may have to (I need to use my camera this weekend, and I need to be able to download it and burn it to DVD!) Any help from this wonderful community would be greatly appreciated.

Symptoms:

Poor video performance: I've got a radeon 9000 pro agp, and have it (mostly) working I get 1000+ fps with glxgears, but it's off and on. That is, it will drop to 800 or so and then kick back up to 1100 or so. I think this causes my DVD problems.

Choppy DVD: I think this is from video trouble? Or is it from the HD trouble I'm having? I can't quite figure it out.

Firewire Capture: Captures done from my DVcamera on the firewire card are extremely choppy and unusable.

Poor HD performance: See my hdparm output from below... it's not terrible, but I don't think its what I should be getting from my 40gb 7200 rpm drive on an ata133 connection.

Code:

sting root # hdparm -tT /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
 Timing buffer-cache reads:   128 MB in  0.41 seconds =311.44 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads:  64 MB in  2.82 seconds = 22.66 MB/sec
