Will OO2 compile with USE= -java ?

Apparently, yes - I emerged it with USE="-java" without any problems:
Code:
$ genlop -ti openoffice
 * app-office/openoffice

     Mon Oct 10 05:02:55 2005 >>> app-office/openoffice-1.1.5
       merge time: 3 hours, 30 minutes and 3 seconds.

     Fri Oct 21 02:50:46 2005 >>> app-office/openoffice-2.0.0
       merge time: 4 hours, 51 minutes and 14 seconds.

   Total builds: 2
   Global build time: 8 hours, 21 minutes and 17 seconds.
   Average merge time: 4 hours, 10 minutes and 38 seconds.

   Info about currently installed ebuild:

(Emphasis mine). It actually compiled for you under x86_64? Might have to try that out, in that case.
I was under the impression that it wouldn't compile for amd64. :?:

No, I compiled it under x86 - I just have an AMD Athlon 64 processor. :D According to this thread, OpenOffice won't compile in a 64-bit environment until version 2.0.2.

What do you mean by this? Does OO.org actually use your GNOME/KDE icon theme now? That would kick ass...

Not theme, just a GTK/Qt look, afaik.

Ahh, well that clears it up then. I always thought setting athlon64 had something to do with if it'd be doing 32- or 64-bit. :)

(darn OO.org people for making us poor 64-bit:ers have to wait for proper desktop integration :D )

The binary doesn't have the kde-integration, if you want that you'll have to build it yourself with app-office/openoffice

You'll need a little script.
Code:
#!/bin/bash
export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde
cd /usr/lib/openoffice/program
./soffice -

And what is this script supposed to do in respect to openoffice-bin? And why should you start openoffice directly instead of through the wrapper script? Also: Why do you cd to the program dir?

It KICKS!!!!!!
I don't know if it's native QT or gtk-QT (I'm using the gtk-qt-engine) but
my openoffice.org just uses linspire clear as all my desktop apps.

Yea, I noticed this too, guess they really don't have all the bugs worked out. I also get a similar error when I try to save a new file for the first time. It works, but I get 2 error messages first. It looks as though they changed the default paths for a bunch of stuff, and while the settings show the correct paths, and you can edit them all you like, a lot of the menus and some other basic things will not use what you configure, and seem to be hard coded to the old locations.

Guess 2.0.1 will be coming out soon.

Strange, I don't have this problem. Unfortunately I can't test anymore because I'm recompiling it right now because I forgot to set the gnome use flag. so...UGLY! Anyway, is there any reason the use flag is gnome rather than gtk2? Does this enable any other kind of significant integration?

Not sure about the use flag, but I wonder if this is a result of having upgraded through all of the release candidates. I didnt have the problem with rc1 or 2, but started having it with rc3 and now the final build. I think the path names may have changed somewhere in there.

Maybe if I unmerge open office, remove all the files from the previous versions and re-emerge it the problem will go away.

More compile times...

Code:

2.6.13-gentoo-r3 #3 Thu Oct 6 21:27:42 CDT 2005 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 2.00GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
2GB Ram

genlop -t openoffice
 * app-office/openoffice

     Fri Oct 21 03:01:52 2005 >>> app-office/openoffice-2.0.0
       merge time: 4 hours, 40 minutes and 27 seconds.

My laptop finished a full hour faster than my desktop. Gotta respect these -M processors...
Plus it's stable on here... Gonna have to troubleshoot ths one I guess...

For some reason I was unable to build openoffice-2.0 from source and got some errors when compiling Java Beanshell it seems. It complained of ambiguous references for interface Type. I have attached the complete log for the build (scroll to the very end to see the errors). I am using Gentoo with sun-jdk-1.5.0_01.

Below are some examples of the kinds of errors I got.

Code:

So would it comple if I use the "-java" flag? Also do you know what does "mozilla" flag does? I am only curious if it adds plugin for the browser or something :P

I have some grahphic glitches in both openoffice, openoffice-bin and wine too. GTK+ and QT apps are fine.

I have tried nvidia, nv and vesa driver and it is all the same... Any idea what's wrong?

Many items get partially black on hover and Close document ("X") has always inverted colors.

"Button" is black on hover (OO.org Base)
Inverted close button
Toolbar glitch on hover
