Uhm, I just merged 2.0.0? | I kinda-sorta suspect he's on about x86_64 support -- at least I know that's what I am waiting for with 2.0.2.
-bin looks so.. drab. | I spit on x86. It should be discontinued |
With appropriate festivities surrounding the event.
Still, right now I'd much rather see OO.org compile cleanly on amd64 so it doesn't look like some windows application running through wine. _________________ Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? |

That is a little optimistic for openoffice. |

iced@iced ~ % ldd /usr/lib/libX11.so | grep au
libXau.so.6 => /usr/lib/libXau.so.6 (0xb7e65000)
seems to be OK :[ |

w00t I just noticed today that OO2 has been put in the stable x86 tree. I installed it and it's running great. Thanks to the testers and everybody else that helped get it there. OO2 is great! |

On a machine with KDE and not Gnome, why does emerging openoffice want to include a BUNCH of Gnomeish dependencies while emerging openoffice-bin requires nothing new at all? _________________ "So slay me now! I have little magic left."

Try
Code: | USE="-eds kde" emerge -pv openoffice |

Thanks for the quick response! eds was indeed the culprit here. Strange that it's enabled by default. _________________ "So slay me now! I have little magic left."

Does anyone know what exactly the java aspect of OO is? What do you gain or lose by doing +/- java? _________________ "Your voice is like the sound of sirens to a house on fire..." -The Alkaline Trio |

Has anyone noticed that the open and save dialog are no longer the ones from Gnome (like in the ximian OOO) but rather the openoffice style ones? In the preferences you can say not to use the openoffice ones, but this makes no difference.
Does anyone know how to get the gnome style ones back? |

Is it possible to change themes in OpenOffice? Comparing the Windows and Linux version, the Windows version looks a lot better to me (smaller icons for the save/open/align/etc. buttons) |

Code: | * app-office/openoffice
Sat Dec 31 16:45:43 2005 >>> app-office/openoffice-2.0.1
merge time: 5 hours, 57 minutes and 9 seconds.
@ 2,4 GHz Intel Celeron & 256 RAM. |
Is there a way to change the default icons, which are nice, to other icons? |

Just thought I'd post my compile results (1b of RAM):
Code: | lucy ~ # emerge info
Portage 2.0.53 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.4.4, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.14.2 i686)
=================================================================
System uname: 2.6.14.2 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+
Gentoo Base System version 1.6.13
distcc 2.18.3 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] |
Code: | lucy ~ # genlop -t openoffice
* app-office/openoffice
Thu Feb 10 14:25:56 2005 >>> app-office/openoffice-1.1.4
merge time: 5 hours, 10 minutes and 19 seconds.
Tue Apr 12 01:13:47 2005 >>> app-office/openoffice-1.1.4
merge time: 5 hours, 27 minutes and 10 seconds.
Sun Jun 5 22:09:53 2005 >>> app-office/openoffice-1.1.4-r1
merge time: 5 hours, 26 minutes and 39 seconds.
Sun Jan 8 11:24:30 2006 >>> app-office/openoffice-2.0.0
merge time: 7 hours, 17 minutes and 2 seconds. |
So far I have to say that on first load, I love OpenOffice 2.0. Previously I wasn't very happy with the look / feel of it, but now it seems better! |
